was founded in 2008 by opera singers Zachary James and Megan Nielson and composer Kristin Hevner Wyatt. M.O.P produced operas in NYC through 2012 primarily at the Medicine Show Theatre in Manhattan, as well as concerts and events throughout NYC at venues including Birdland, Don't Tell Mama, Galapagos Art Space and at Chicago's Gorilla Tango Theatre.
Metropolis Opera Project developed and produced seven new operas including ONE HOT KITCHEN, IL SOGNO and BULLY PULPIT by Kristin Hevner Wyatt, OBESA CANTAVIT by Larry Lees, THE NIGHTINGALE AND THE ROSE by Benjamin Scheuer, BILLY BLYTHE by Bonnie Montgomery and CROSSING THE STRAITS by Christopher Sahar. M.O.P. gave dozens of composers a venue to showcase highlights from new operas in an event called The M.O.P. Bucket, a new music party held in NYC in 2010 at Stitch Bar and 2011 at Medicine Show Theatre.
